PhonoVibe Series

Not sure which model? Compare D, Q, O and HD side by side — channels, sample rate, bandwidth and price, with the measurement each one suits.

The PhonoVibe series is TIERA’s USB DAQ line for sound and vibration measurement. Four production models (D, Q, O, HD) and one integrated bench variant (Eco X) cover two-channel field kits through 16-channel modal labs.

Datasheets

Individual datasheets for each model:

PhonoVibe Eco X — the integrated bench

The Eco X is a complete sound-and-vibration bench in a single box: 4-channel DAQ, 20 N electrodynamic shaker, 150 W amplifier, PC-based signal generator (sine, chirp, burst, random), and a sensor starter pack (100 mV/g accelerometer + 25 mV/N impact hammer). Optional MODALVIEW software for ODS and EMA.

Useful for universities running modal-analysis courses, TCAT training centres, and reliability teams needing a portable demo rig. See current pricing on the TIERA store.

What ships in the box

Every PhonoVibe DAQ ships with:

  • TVIB TSAP 201 software (perpetual licence)
  • Connectors and cables for sensor wiring
  • USB cable, quick-start guide
  • Factory calibration certificate (1-year validity)
  • 2-year standard warranty (extendable to 3 with AMC)

Choosing a model

  • PhonoVibe D — single-machine condition monitoring, classroom teaching, field service kit.
  • PhonoVibe Q — small reliability team, multi-bearing or shaft-end measurement, mid-range modal work.
  • PhonoVibe O / HD — full modal testing, line-monitoring banks, multi-axis transducer arrays, R&D labs requiring parallel multi-channel capture.
  • PhonoVibe Eco X — universities, training centres, and engineering colleges that need a self-contained signal-chain bench.

What pairs naturally

  • TVIB TSAP 201 (bundled free) for time waveform, spectrum, FRF, octave, balancing
  • TMFSS as a controlled-fault source for training and algorithm validation
  • TIERA accelerometers (TACPB-10T3 MEMS) and cables — see Sensors & Accessories — or bring your own IEPE sensors

Third-party DAQ compatibility

TVIB also supports National Instruments 9234 / 4431, Modal Shop 485B39, Sinus Apollo Light, and Data Translation DT9837 — useful if you’re integrating PhonoVibe into a mixed-DAQ lab.

How this family is actually used

The measurements these instruments are bought to make, worked through end to end.

Common questions

Which PhonoVibe model do I need?
It comes down to channel count. PhonoVibe D is 2-channel, Q is 4, O is 8 and HD is 16. A single-point route or a bump test needs 2; two-plane balancing and most FRF work needs 4; modal and multi-point survey work is where 8 and 16 earn their place. Eco X is a 4-channel unit bundled with a shaker for teaching labs.
Does PhonoVibe work with sensors I already own?
Yes, if they are IEPE / ICP / CCLD types. Every channel supplies 24 V, 4 mA constant current and reads TEDS, so a sensor that identifies itself is recognised automatically. Charge-mode accelerometers need an external converter.
What software comes with it, and is it extra?
The TVIB TSAP201 base module is included free with every PhonoVibe — time waveform and narrowband FFT out of the box. Further TVIB modules such as balancing, sound level or order tracking are added only if you need them.
Is it calibrated, and what warranty does it carry?
Each unit ships with a factory calibration certificate valid for one year. Warranty is 2 years as standard and can be extended to 3.
What computer does it need?
Windows 10 or 11, 32-bit or 64-bit. It is USB-powered and plug-and-play, so no separate power supply or PCI card is involved.
