  • TSONUS software covers calibration, measurement, averaging, merging and report generation

T-Sonus extends the TIERA sound and vibration ecosystem into acoustic material testing. The workflow is intended for laboratories that need a controlled way to compare foam, panels, liners, ducts, enclosures and other materials using a repeatable normal-incidence tube measurement setup.

The system uses mounted loudspeakers to create a controlled sound field inside the tube. Precision microphones measure sound pressure at defined locations, while the PhonoVibe acquisition system transfers the signals to TSONUS software for processing. Based on the measured frequency response functions, the software calculates material acoustic properties for comparison and reporting.

Tube ranges and test modes

T-Sonus can be configured around 100 mm, 30 mm and 16 mm tubes. The larger tube supports low-frequency material behavior from 50 Hz to 1600 Hz, the 30 mm tube covers the mid band from 800 Hz to 6300 Hz, and the 16 mm tube extends high-frequency testing from 2500 Hz to 10 kHz.

For absorption coefficient testing, the sample holder lengths are 320 mm for T100A, 300 mm for T30B and 210 mm for T16C. For transmission loss testing, the sample holder lengths are 850 mm, 520 mm and 560 mm respectively.

TSONUS software

TSONUS covers the full workflow from calibration to measurement and report generation. It supports channel setup, microphone and accelerometer calibration, signal-to-noise checks, phase calibration, averaging, result merging, smoothing, export and report generation.

The software also includes advanced tools for microphone acoustic center detection, project comparison and merging, data averaging, air-cavity simulation and acoustic penetration depth analysis. Environmental and tube-related corrections can account for weather variation, internal tube losses, mounting ring and grid effects, and sound pressure level adjustment inside the tube.
