If part of your plant is classified — Zone 0, 1 or 2 under ATEX, IECEx or ANZEx, Class I Division 1 or 2 under CSA — then the vibration programme on those machines is not the ordinary programme in a worse location. The spectra are the same. The hardware and the paperwork are not.
The classification comes first, and it is yours. Which certification a sensor needs is set by your site’s own area classification, carried out under the regime you operate to and signed off by the people who own that document. TIERA does not classify areas and does not decide on your behalf which scheme, zone or equipment category applies. We supply hardware certified to what your classification already says it requires, and quote against that. Send us the classification drawing and the machine list; the answer comes out of a conversation, not a selection table.
Certified accelerometers. TIERA distributes CTC’s hazardous-area sensor ranges in India, catalogued by the approval each holds: ATEX Zone 2, IECEx Zone 0,1, ANZEx Zone 0,1, KC Zone 0,1 and CSA Class I Div 1. Between them they do the same measurement jobs an ordinary industrial accelerometer does — single, biaxial and triaxial, dual acceleration-and-temperature, piezo velocity — in 316L stainless bodies with the certified connector and cable arrangements that go with them. Every unit ships with CTC’s calibration certificate.
Intrinsically safe barriers. The barrier is part of the certified loop, not an accessory bolted on afterwards. The CTC IS Series limits the electrical energy reaching a sensor in the classified area so a fault or a spark cannot ignite the atmosphere. Barrier, sensor and cable are quoted together, because they are certified together.
Permanently installed points. Where a machine is monitored continuously rather than walked, 4–20 mA loop-power transmitters carry a velocity output straight into the control or monitoring system you already run — Class 1 Division 2 / ATEX Zone 2 and intrinsically safe IECEx ranges. No analyser goes into the area to take the reading.
Fluid-film machines. Turbines, centrifugal compressors and large sleeve-bearing machines are measured by shaft displacement rather than casing vibration. The hazardous-area approved PRO Line probe sets — 8 mm, 11 mm, 25 mm and FFV — comprise probe, extension cable and driver, and are built to API 670.
The analysis does not change. Once the signal is out of the classified area it is an ordinary vibration signal — the same spectra, the same envelope processing, the same alarm bands and trends as any other machine on the route. The certification is the difference; the diagnosis is not, which is why this page is shorter than the others.
