TWGM 206 — Waveform Generator
Controlled excitation signals for shaker-based structural testing.
- •Pink noise, white noise, and random noise generation
- •Noise burst for low-coherence averaging
- •Frequency sine sweep (linear and logarithmic)
- •Frequency sine sweep burst for structural FRF measurements
- •Bandpass filter on noise output — limits energy to measurement bandwidth
- •Compatible with TIERA T-Xcite series electrodynamic shakers and amplifiers
- •Integrates with TVIB software suite for end-to-end modal acquisition
Shaker-based structural testing requires a repeatable, spectrally controlled excitation signal. A random noise burst, for example, drives the structure at all frequencies simultaneously while preserving the cyclostationary conditions needed for coherent FRF averaging. A log sine sweep concentrates energy progressively across frequency and is preferred when the structure has lightly-damped modes that need sufficient dwell time to respond fully.
TWGM 206 provides these signal types from within the TVIB software environment. The output drives the T-Xcite shaker amplifier directly via DAC output on PhonoVibe DAQ hardware, closing the loop between excitation generation and response acquisition in a single software instance. This eliminates timing offset between generator and analyser that can degrade coherence in multi-channel FRF measurements. The bandpass filter option on noise outputs prevents out-of-band energy from exciting modes above the measurement range of interest, protecting both the structure under test and the shaker.
