Sleeve Bearing

The Sleeve Bearing Simulation Addon for the TMFSS Macro simulates the behaviour and performance of sleeve bearings in industrial machinery. It extends the TMFSS Macro simulator to sleeve bearing operation, including lubrication, wear and load capacity. Sleeve bearings — also called plain bearings or bushings — reduce friction between a rotating shaft and the stationary structure supporting it. They are widely used because they are simple, durable and tolerant of a range of conditions; keeping one working and long-lived, though, depends on material selection, lubrication regime and alignment. The addon gives an environment for exploring those factors: users can run different operating scenarios and see how each parameter affects sleeve bearing health and efficiency, which is what predicting a failure and setting a maintenance interval both require. It is aimed at engineers, maintenance professionals and educators working on machinery design and maintenance.
