The Mechanical Rub Simulation Addon for the TMFSS Macro replicates mechanical rubbing in industrial machinery. It extends the TMFSS Macro simulator to the case of components rubbing against each other, which is a critical issue in turbines, compressors and motors among other machines. Mechanical rub occurs when rotating parts come into unintended contact with stationary parts or with other rotating components, usually through misalignment, thermal expansion or excessive vibration. That contact raises friction, generates heat and causes wear, and if it is not addressed promptly it can end in catastrophic failure. The addon lets you reproduce the conditions that lead to rub, measure what it does to machine health and efficiency, and test the ways of stopping it — which is what detailed diagnosis and preventive maintenance both depend on.
